The Brazilian Army has taken delivery of its first UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter from Lockheed Martin, advancing a broader modernization program aimed at improving mobility, responsiveness, and mission readiness. Part of a 12-helicopter deal signed in 2024, the aircraft will be used for logistics support, troop deployment, medical evacuation, disaster relief, and search-and-rescue missions. The delivery underscores Brazil’s long-standing confidence in the Black Hawk platform, which has served the country since the late 1990s. Lockheed Martin highlighted that the milestone reflects more than 20 years of sustained partnership between Brazil and Sikorsky, ensuring fleet availability through maintenance and technical support. The UH-60M adds to Brazil’s existing Black Hawk fleet and enhances joint operations by aligning capabilities between the Army and Air Force. From a performance standpoint, the helicopter offers robust lift capacity, extended range, and advanced propulsion through dual GE T700 engines generating nearly 1,900 horsepower each. With the ability to carry troops, heavy cargo, or armaments, the UH-60M provides Brazil with a multi-mission platform capable of addressing both security and humanitarian challenges.
