Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Army connected cutting-edge and legacy technologies in a virtual joint fires demonstration during the Balikatan 2025 exercise, marking the first such test in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s area of responsibility.

The demonstration, conducted on May 5, 2025, during a Maritime Strike mission, successfully shared targeting data across multiple platforms, allowing a simulated rocket to be dynamically re-targeted mid-flight to strike a moving maritime surface target. This breakthrough moves the U.S. Army closer to integrating HIMARS with precision engagement capabilities against moving targets.

Seamlessly connecting various offensive and defensive assets strengthens operational agility and maximizes the warfighter’s ability to choose the most effective response.

This demonstration is a key milestone toward building multi-domain missile systems for versatile deployment.

Data-linked targeting also presents a cost-effective method to strike mobile threats without requiring costly onboard seekers.

The test is part of Lockheed Martin’s ongoing efforts to advance integrated, multi-domain warfare capabilities using 21st Century Security® principles.
