Lithuania’s State Defence Council has approved the acquisition of 100 CV90 MkIV infantry fighting vehicles under a multinational European procurement program aimed at improving interoperability and reducing costs. The joint initiative includes Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands, with Lithuania formalizing its participation through agreements signed in mid and late 2025. The collective procurement contract is expected to be concluded in early 2026, with vehicle deliveries scheduled to begin in 2028. Importantly, the acquisition includes provisions for local industrial participation, covering production of technical components as well as maintenance and support activities within Lithuania. Defense officials emphasized that supply reliability and industrial cooperation will be decisive factors in future multinational defense projects. Manufactured by BAE Systems Hägglunds, the CV90 MkIV is optimized for high mobility and firepower, particularly in subarctic conditions. The tracked vehicle carries up to eight dismounted troops, reaches speeds of 70 kilometers per hour, and supports a wide range of weapon systems. Its modular digital architecture enables integration of advanced fire-control, cybersecurity, and sensor systems.
