Kazakhstan is moving toward AI-enabled defense with the formation of a military AI unit within the Ministry of Defense. This unit will oversee the digital modernization of armed forces, applying artificial intelligence to operations, logistics, and decision support. Following a presidential directive, the initiative aims to integrate AI capabilities across intelligence, surveillance, and command systems. Deputy Defense Minister Darkhan Akhmediev highlighted that the unit will develop tools for predictive analysis, operational automation, and enhanced situational awareness. By embedding AI into military structures, Kazakhstan seeks to improve responsiveness, operational efficiency, and readiness against emerging threats, positioning its armed forces for modern, technology-driven warfare.
