General Atomics has received a $14.3-million contract update to continue maintenance and sustainment support for Italy’s MQ-9 Reaper fleet under a Foreign Military Sales framework. The cost-plus contract option funds ongoing logistics and software services to maintain operational readiness of the remotely piloted aircraft. Oversight is provided by the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, with all funding already obligated. The MQ-9 remains a key asset for Italy, offering long endurance, advanced sensors, and evolving mission flexibility as the fleet has gradually transitioned from pure ISR tasks toward broader operational roles enabled by incremental capability upgrades.
