In Rome, the heads of Eurofighter and NETMA (the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency) signed the agreement today for a maximum of 24 Italian Air Force Eurofighters. The announcement is made at a critical juncture for the Eurofighter program and after the Spanish Air Force signed a contract for 25 Eurofighters. The Italian Eurofighter Typhoon jets will take the place of the Italian Tranche 1 models, which are now in use.
