Leonardo has been awarded a contract to deliver a multirole maritime patrol aircraft to the Italian Coast Guard, utilizing its ATR 42-600 commercial airframe. This acquisition aligns with the force’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its aerial assets, which currently include aircraft based on the ATR 42-200 and ATR 42-500 models. The new variant will be equipped with enhanced communication capabilities and state-of-the-art surveillance sensors, ensuring seamless real-time information transmission across command levels.
