In order to greatly improve the operational capabilities of the Indian Army, India has implemented the “Sanjay,” a state-of-the-art battlefield surveillance system. Developed in partnership with the government-owned Bharat Electronics Limited, the system combines data from a variety of ground and aerial sensors to produce a single, integrated “common surveillance picture” of the battlefield. According to sources, this sophisticated capability increases accuracy, gets rid of redundancy, and makes better use of the nation’s Army Data Network and Satellite Communication Network.
