In order to replenish losses, the Indian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has contracted state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to manufacture 12 Su-30MKI fighter jets for the Indian Air Force. There are currently 259 aircraft in service, although the authorized strength of the Su-30 fleet is 272. This 135-billion rupee ($1.5 billion) agreement would boost the Indian Air Force’s operational capabilities and enhance the nation’s defense readiness.
