Under its Medium Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) tender, the Swedish defense behemoth Saab has presented the Indian Air Force (IAF) with a robust bid that includes the Gripen-E fighter aircraft as well as a full “Make in India” manufacturing strategy. Saab intends to build a manufacturing line for the Gripen-E in India and has also offered its competence to aid in the production of India’s indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program. This collaboration seeks to utilize Saab’s experience in fighter jet manufacture and digital engineering to assist India in developing a modern manufacturing ecology.
