As part of a government agreement inked in 2023, HII has provided the US Navy with the first Lionfish small unmanned underwater systems. The tranche includes the first two of the nine vehicles ordered to support the force’s plan to implement next-generation autonomous subsurface systems. The contract has an option to supply an additional 200 drones through 2028 and is valued at over $347 million. The company provides engineering services, afloat, and auxiliary support machinery to the navy in addition to the platforms.
