U.S. Marines are moving to Norway to participate in Cold Response 26, a major NATO exercise focused on Arctic warfare and multinational interoperability. Around 3,000 Marines will operate alongside 25,000 allied troops from across Europe and North America, supported by Air Force aircraft, Navy construction units, and special operations teams. The deployment coincides with ongoing tensions regarding Greenland, as President Trump reiterated his interest in discussions over the territory while asserting no force would be used. NATO officials, including Secretary General Mark Rutte, reaffirmed alliance commitments. Exercises like Cold Response 26, taking place in March, are designed to enhance Arctic combat skills, rapid deployment, and coordination among NATO partners, reflecting a broader focus on northern European security and strategic deterrence.
