GM Defense has secured a new Pentagon contract worth $18.8 million to provide the US Army with 121 additional Infantry Squad Vehicles. The order includes the vehicles themselves as well as supporting components such as stability control systems, anti-lock braking kits, and protective storage covers. With optional purchases included, the contract could ultimately reach a value of more than $458 million and remain active until 2027. The latest award builds on earlier procurement agreements that have steadily expanded the Army’s fleet of ISVs. Government records indicate that over 1,100 of the vehicles were already in service by late 2025. The Army intends to significantly expand this number, with plans to acquire more than 9,000 vehicles as part of its modernization efforts for infantry mobility. Based on the commercial Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 platform, the ISV offers a lightweight yet highly capable transport solution for rapid troop movement in contested environments. It accommodates a nine-person squad and can carry heavy mission equipment while maintaining speeds of about 60 miles per hour. The vehicle can be air-transported by heavy-lift helicopters or delivered by cargo aircraft through low-velocity airdrop, enabling rapid deployment in expeditionary operations.
