As part of a five-year deal given by the Norwegian Armed Forces last year, Kongsberg has launched the ARVAKER I micro-satellite to offer maritime surveillance data. From Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, the satellite was launched on SpaceX’s Transporter-13 mission, and soon after deployment, it established two-way communication with the mission control of Kongsberg NanoAvionics. The ARVAKER I will contribute to maritime security by identifying illicit fishing, smuggling, environmental offenses, and other criminal behavior.
