“Hanwha Systems has won a 54.7 billion won ($39.7 million) deal to create a next-generation radar for South Korea’s future long-range air defense missile system.”
The agreement includes a prototype multi-function radar (MFR) created to improve threat identification for the Long-range Surface-to-Air Missile II (L-SAM II) program.
The radar is anticipated to track many approaching targets in real time and include algorithms that are highly accurate and designed for high-tier interceptions, but the full specifications are still unknown.
It will also offer a big improvement in range over the current L-SAM radar.
