The Italian Army has received the first upgraded Ariete C2 main battle tank, delivered by the Iveco-Oto Melara (CIO) consortium. Part of a 90-unit modernization program, the C2 upgrade enhances firepower, mobility, and digital command integration. It features a 1,500-hp V-12 turbo diesel engine, upgraded suspension, and Leonardo’s C2D/N EVO system, supported by satellite comms and digital radios. Equipped with a 120mm NATO-standard gun and advanced targeting systems, the C2 also includes a coaxial 7.62mm and a 12.7mm turret-mounted machine gun for multi-role defense.
