Lithuania has agreed to purchase two multipurpose assault vessels from Finnish manufacturer Marine Alutech Oy Ab. The transaction was facilitated by a joint procurement arrangement with Latvia, with the contract valued at 22 million euros ($24 million). From the Gulf of Finland to the Curonian Lagoon, close to the border with Russia, the ships will be handed over to the Lithuanian Navy and run by the Coastal Defense Battalion to improve maritime security along the nation’s shoreline.
