According to Lockheed Martin executives on an earnings call, the company expects to sign a contract with the U.S. government for the 18th and 19th F-35 lots by the end of the year. Nevertheless, delays in reaching these agreements and the government’s decision to withhold millions in payments until the new fighters are combat-ready have cost Lockheed hundreds of millions.
