German defense electronics firm HENSOLDT has landed radar contracts valued at over €100 million in support of the European Sky Shield Initiative spearheaded by Germany.
Through agreements with Diehl Defence, the company will supply additional TRML-4D high-performance radars, complete with training and sustainment services, for deployment alongside IRIS-T SLM air defense systems in multiple participating countries.
The TRML-4D is an active electronically scanned array radar designed to counter a wide range of airborne threats, including cruise missiles, rockets, unmanned aerial vehicles, and fixed-wing aircraft.
HENSOLDT said the ESSI framework is driving strong demand for integrated sensor and interceptor solutions, while modular, software-defined designs are reducing development cycles and improving system performance.
Across the initiative, HENSOLDT has now secured contracts for more than 150 radars of various types, reflecting the expanding use of its TRML-4D, Spexer, and Twinvis systems within Europe’s layered air and missile defense networks.
The latest award underscores the momentum behind ESSI, which continues to bring together multiple European nations in coordinated efforts to modernize continental air defense capabilities.
