Egypt’s $304 million purchase of the AN/TPS-78 long-range radar was approved by the US State Department. In addition to spare and repair parts, Cairo also sought an unknown quantity of the Northrop Grumman radars from the US, along with associated gear like GPS devices with selective availability anti-spoofing modules and KIV-78 cryptographic devices.
