Norwegian shipbuilder Maritime Partner has been awarded a contract by Denmark to build seven Sjøbjørn 71 ships for the Danish Coastal Rescue Service. In the Danish territories, notably throughout the Kattegat and sections of the Baltic Sea, the incoming fleet will assume a “major role” in supporting the force’s more than 600 yearly operations. From bases in Anholt, Gedser, Grenå, Nexø, Østerby, Rønne, and Skagen, the new ships, which will be formally commissioned as the Danish Rescue Vessels (DRV), will carry out salvage, marine assistance, and emergency response duties.
