Denmark has expanded its fleet of CV90 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) with a new order for 44 CV9035 MkIIIC platforms from BAE Systems, further strengthening its mechanized forces. This acquisition builds on a large 2024 purchase of 115 CV90s, bringing the Royal Danish Army’s total fleet to 159 vehicles by 2030. The new order replaces the previously planned mid-life upgrade for Denmark’s 44 older CV9035DK vehicles, shifting the focus toward integrating the latest-generation IFV standard. Valued at approximately $450 million, the contract includes spare parts, logistical support, sustainment services, and training packages. The CV9035 MkIIIC matches the configuration of the Netherlands’ most recent CV90 mid-life upgrade program and is equipped with the newest CV90 turret. Developed by BAE Systems Hägglunds, the CV90 family is built for modularity, allowing integration of various weapons such as autocannons, machine guns, grenade launchers, and guided missiles. Denmark has operated the CV90 since 2007. Several NATO members—including Estonia, Finland, and Sweden—also field the vehicle. In June 2025, five countries signed a joint statement of intent to pursue broader, multinational procurement of the CV90 to support interoperability and combined defense planning. Beyond national modernization, Denmark and Sweden have donated CV90s to Ukraine, contributing to Kyiv’s ongoing defense efforts against Russia.
