Washington has authorized a potential sale worth $318.4 million to Denmark for the AIM-9X Block II missile package. The request includes 340 tactical missiles, 34 guidance assemblies, and a full suite of training and sustainment materials. Denmark already fields the weapon on its F-35 fleet and air defense systems, ensuring smooth absorption. RTX is identified as the main contractor, and no industrial offsets are part of the proposal. The AIM-9X Block II enhances the well-known Sidewinder with a high-resolution infrared seeker, thrust-vectoring maneuvering capability, and an advanced digital fuse. Its datalink enables post-launch target acquisition and broader tactical flexibility. Weighing 188 pounds and capable of reaching more than Mach 2.5, the missile provides about 20 miles of effective range. It is cleared for a wide variety of American and allied fighters, making it a fully interoperable short-range air-to-air solution.
