Prague has cleared the purchase of 44 Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks, valued at $1.56 billion, with an additional $71 million for modifications. The agreement with Germany also allows for future expansion to as many as 77 tanks in multiple variants. Support systems, training, and spare parts are included. The move follows Czechia’s decision to donate its T-72M1 fleet to Ukraine, aligning with NATO efforts to modernize eastern European forces. Cabinet approval is pending before final signing.
