Croatia is moving forward with plans to modernize its navy through the procurement of two multi-role corvettes, with projected costs ranging from €660 million to €1.6 billion depending on final design and configuration. The acquisition would mark a major leap in capability, as the ships would surpass all existing Croatian naval vessels in size and combat potential. Defense officials are engaging with shipyards from eight countries, reflecting a competitive international field that includes European, Asian, and American manufacturers. Designs under consideration span proven platforms such as Turkey’s MİLGEM ADA-class, France’s Gowind, Germany’s K-130, and South Korea’s light frigate offerings. With displacement and size varying significantly across proposals, the program gives Croatia flexibility to balance cost, endurance, and combat systems as it seeks to strengthen Adriatic maritime security and NATO interoperability.
