Belgium will acquire 11 more F-35 fighter jets, increasing its total fleet to 45 aircraft. The €1.5 billion order was confirmed by Defense Minister Theo Francken. This builds on the country’s 2018 decision to modernize its air force by replacing F-16s with fifth-generation jets. With nine already produced and the next delivery due this fall, the Belgian Air Force is on track to achieve full F-35 capability by 2031.
