Northrop’s ATHENA sensor has been cleared for Phase II in the Army’s ITDS program, a successor to existing missile warning systems. ATHENA brings upgraded resolution and processing power to detect threats more quickly, while easily updating software. Testing and prototype integration will continue through 2026, with field deployment planned toward 2029.
