US Army Reserve troops are now using SpaceX’s advanced Starshield communications system on the battlefield. The laser-powered solution delivers ultra-fast global data transmission, with upload speeds ranging from 300–500 Mbps and latency as low as 25 ms. Designed for mission-critical operations, Starshield integrates easily with existing devices, providing a secure and reliable link from anywhere. Operated under a five-terabyte plan, Starlink units are upgraded for Starshield functionality. An Army officer noted that this capability offers unprecedented responsiveness in tactical decision-making.
