At the Bordeaux-Mérignac airport, the French Navy conducted the first flight of its Falcon 2000LXS Albatros maritime surveillance and intervention aircraft. It was in response to Paris giving Dassault Aviation, a local defense manufacturer, the contract in 2020 for a maximum of 12 aircraft to replace the military’s outdated Falcon 50 Surmar and Falcon 200 Guardian aerial patrol fleets.
