The Spanish Navy has added two NH90 MSPT helicopters to its fleet, delivered by Airbus Helicopters as part of a multi-phase modernization initiative. These are the first deliveries from a batch of seven units and form part of a larger contract to acquire 23 NH90 helicopters overall.
Designed for amphibious missions, the NH90 MSPT boasts reinforced undercarriages, marine-adapted communication systems, and folding main/tail rotors for seamless naval deployment. Capable of transporting up to 20 soldiers or a light vehicle, the aircraft is engineered for operation under challenging conditions with minimal crew. Spain’s decision to equip all branches of its military with the NH90 platform is a strategic move toward inter-service standardization. This fleet enhancement follows a recent agreement with Airbus as part of Spain’s National Helicopter Plan.
