Lockheed Martin has successfully tested an AI-driven Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system designed for rapid maritime threat identification. Conducted off the U.S. West Coast, the trials brought together teams from Lockheed’s AI Center, Skunk Works, and Rotary and Mission Systems to demonstrate the radar’s ability to autonomously detect and classify targets in near real time. This AI-enhanced capability marks a major step toward automating surveillance and boosting response speeds for naval operations. The SAR system exemplifies Lockheed Martin’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into defense platforms, reducing operator workload and enabling faster decision-making in complex maritime scenarios.
