Agile Defense has won a key subcontract under Savvee Consulting’s $44-million US Navy program to upgrade and secure the Military Sealift Command’s (MSC) global IT network. The five-and-a-half-year initiative will deliver advanced IT engineering, enhance cybersecurity posture, and improve system efficiency across MSC’s global maritime logistics infrastructure.

As a major subcontractor, Agile Defense will contribute cybersecurity solutions, data analytics, and sustainment support to strengthen the digital resilience of MSC’s fleet of over 130 civilian-crewed vessels that transport essential fuel, supplies, and equipment worldwide. Jay Burkhardt, Vice President for Navy and Marine Corps Operations at Agile Defense, noted that the partnership underscores the company’s focus on integrating secure and efficient digital systems into naval operations.

The project aligns with the Navy’s broader effort to modernize mission-critical networks and bolster cyber readiness under Department of Defense guidelines. MSC, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, manages logistics and sealift operations through a diverse fleet, including hospital ships and surveillance vessels. Recent initiatives include introducing John Lewis-class oilers for enhanced refueling support and deploying stronger cybersecurity protocols aboard its auxiliary ships.
