The US Defense Threat Reduction Agency has selected Battelle to lead a major biodefense initiative under the STEP 2.0 framework, reinforcing Washington’s efforts to counter evolving biological risks. Valued at up to $93.3 million, the contract supports research, innovation, and technical solutions designed to strengthen military preparedness against planned and emerging biological threats. Operating under DTRA’s Global Threat Reduction Directorate, the program addresses global CBRN challenges in coordination with allied partners. Battelle’s selection builds on its expanding defense portfolio, which includes high-value technology development contracts and specialized CBRN laboratory and testing support for US military facilities.
